Selecting That Special Prom Dress
At last, it’s time to buy a designer prom dress. , there are some important things to bear in mind. First, is the weather (and the heating or air conditioning of the hall in which the prom is being held). You do not want to be wearing velvet if the room is going to be overly warm. Similarly you don’t want a thin chiffon dress which will show goose bumps because you are freezing. Which emphasises the most fundamental thing. Wear something you are comfortable in.
Next, design. This should flatter your figure and enhance your personality. If you have an outgoing personality. If you like meeting people and being the centre of attention, then look for something slightly flamboyant. But remember that you are likely to be snapped so don’t be too outrageous. You don’t want your children to be able to use them as ammunitiion to get what they want in the future. If you tend to be more shy, then look for something refined and tasteful. Find a style you will be comfortable wearing.
When choosing a style for your formal prom gown, you should also look carefully and honestly at your figure. most if us have a few pounds extra that we would rather not highlight and few have the perfect figure. Don’t assume that you can reduce your weight by prom night – you won’t. Instead, find a dress which will compliment your assets and hide those extra inches. If you are on the heavy side, don’t wear tight clothes, and don’t wear frills and ruffles, they do not hide, they only draw attention to your imperfections. If you are large on top, then don’t choose a low cut dress and make sure that the dress it is not to tight. The edict ‘If you have it – flaunt it’ does not apply on prom night and in the end will probably only embarrass you. You want to look glamorous and elegant on this special night. One other thing, make sure the stripes go the best way if you fancy a striped material. Crosswise stripes tend to make you look shorter and fatter, Vertical stripes tend to make you look taller and thinner. If you are challenged in the bust department or your hips are large then stripes can often come to your rescue.
You can heighten your skin tone and improve your overall looks by choosing the right color. If you have a very pale complexion, avoid Royal blue, it will make you look even more pale. Also you will look insipid and fade into the background with very pale colors, not what you want to do on this very special evening. You may look good in deep reds pinks or greens. If you have a favorite color, try it. You should find the color which makes you feel special. If you are a redhead, avoid oranges and reds, but greens shoulkd look really good on you. Look at your eyes, why not try enhancing their colour by wearing the same colour for your dress.
Keep your options open as you select your costume. Don’t rule anything out until you have tried it. The most significant thing, though is that you should enjoy wearing your prom dress. This is a special night and you should feel special. Look for something else if you don’t have that special feeling.
