Start with a skirted suit or trouser suit for the most cautious look. A skirted suit is the most professional. Avoid extremes, pants should break at the top of the shoe or foot. In the business world, women need to wear hose. Never wear dark hose with light-colored clothing or shoes. Faces, not feet, should be the focus in business so chose conservative shoes. Accessories shouldn’t diminish your credibility, but should reflect your personality.

Business attire is different from evening and weekend dress. Investing in a good business wardrobe is an investment in your professional future. Business skills and experience count, but so does personal appearance and that crucial for first impression.
