The high school prom is something that students look forward to all through school, perhaps even for many years. Some say that for them the prom is similar to walking down a fashion runway, walking on the red carpet or attending the Oscar’s, making it a very important event. Girls may spend weeks searching for their prom dress, as they want it to be unique, fashionable and attention grabbing. They may try on hundreds of prom gowns, check with their friends for advice, search the internet and hit every store, in every mall for miles around.

When selecting your prom dress, make sure it fits properly, is comfortable and reflects your personal fashion style. There are enough different styles that you will have no problem finding a two piece ensemble, as well as short prom dresses and the longer more formal prom gowns. Often times girls will select the color black for their dress but that does not mean you can’t choose a different color and it will set you apart from many girls at the prom.

There are other ways that you can take a basic prom gown and turn it into something that is truly you. You can add stunning details that will make your dress stand out, such as adding a sash with a splash of print or an extra long scarf in a contrasting color that you can toss over both shoulders in a mock train style. As well, don’t forget to consider your prom shoes, makeup, hairdo and jewelry.

Once you have found your perfect dress you can use accessories to really add to the style. Gloves make a great addition, as they can be used with most styles. For example, if your prom dress is a long formal gown, then find a pair of long gloves that elegantly match your dress. Or if you opted for a shorter dress in a jazzy color such as watermelon, then slip on a pair of bright lemon colored gloves. Other bright colors that really do look good with each other are raspberry and lemon, banana yellow with apple red and even lime with tangerine.
